Clinic 1: Basics of Wave Riding

Wednesday July 12th, 9.30am – 11am

In this clinic you will learn the basic skills for surfing a run (or wave) on your surfski!

It is aimed at beginner to intermediate paddlers who have limited experience or confidence in waves. Basic skills needed are stability and the ability to remount.

Duration: 1hr30

Venue: Ambleside – meet in front of Hollyburn Sailing Club.

Clinic 2: Surfing Into a Current

Wednesday July 12th, 11.30am – 1pm

This clinic will teach you how to get ahead of the pack when surfing into a current. Participants will learn how and when to apply effort efficiently to jump from wave to wave and the approach to surfing waves at critical angles.

It is aimed at intermediate to advanced paddlers who have the skills of paddling downwind.

Duration: 1hr30
Venue: Ambleside – meet in front of Hollyburn Sailing Club.

Clinic 3: Speed Essentials

Wednesday July 12th, 5pm – 6.30pm

Description: Maximizing your top speed and having the ability to alter pace is an essential skill to surfski paddling. In this clinic I revisit fundamentals in equipment and physiology to get you paddling faster.

This clinic is appropriate for any paddler except complete beginners. You should have a basic grasp of an efficient forward stroke and be stable in your surfski.

Duration: 1hr30 mins (30 land and 1 hour on the water).

Clinic 4: Downwind – Basics

Friday July 14th 2017 – 12 pm

Description: This clinic will teach you the basics of paddling downwind. How to catch the swell and connect to another.

This is appropriate for beginner to intermediate paddlers who have little downwind experience but have the basic skills of surfski paddling, mainly stability and remounting.

Duration: 1 – 2 hrs (depending on conditions mostly spent on the water.)
Venue: Squamish. C/o Loggers ln and Victoria Str.

Clinic 5: Downwind – Working An Angle

Friday July 14th 2017 – 2 pm

Description: This clinic will show you how to be efficient by maintaining a constant speed in downwind conditions when surfing to a specific finishing point.

This clinic is appropriate for intermediate to advanced paddlers who are familiar with catching runs.

Duration: 1 – 2 hrs (depending on conditions mostly spent on the water.)
Venue: Squamish. C/o Loggers ln and Victoria Str.

Jasper has a long heritage as a waterman. He started paddling with his dad and brother when he was 12 years old at the Fish Hoek lifesaving club in South Africa. Since then he has competed and won at the highest level in ocean surfski racing, sprint kayaking, river racing, iron man, paddle boarding and lifesaving.
